Jimmy Deacon – Born 1949 – Upington-Northern Cape province, South Africa.
I am a self-taught in painting, and I purely paint out of the love for it. Someway, pictures with wild animals in it normally get my excited.
I am married for 37 years and have two daughters living in the Netherlands. Nevertheless, to say, both of them are also art lovers and love to paint.
Because of the fact that I have moved around a great deal in our beautiful country, the stunning nature and the awesome wildlife fascinated me so much that I decided to start painting in oils and acrylics. I accept been an artist since my early childhood years. Sketching and painting in oils have always been my love. Many of my paintings during the early 70’s and late 80’s have found their way to family and friends. Having lived a good part of my life in the Kalahari region, I was also inspired to capture the striking “red” Kalahari Desert on canvas.
Many of my paintings found their direction to people’s homes by selling them on one-man exhibitions in Namibia and the Republic of South Africa. Some of my paintings also adorn walls in dwellings abroad.
Regrettably, due to the immense work pressure in the retail field, I had to give up painting until 2009 when I decided to start on early retirement.
My wife and I bought a motor home and tripped the country for plus minus 3 years.
During this time, I took many photos and started painting again. We have now settled down in Newcastle KZN-South Africa. In addition, I manage my art from my home studio.
I am currently selling my paintings on a one -to - one basis to selected buyers who are interested in my work.
I hope that my art will bring joy to who so ever care to look upon them.
Jimmy Deacon.
